(AP) -- J.M. Smucker Co. is pulling peanut butter off store shelves and issuing a recall after a salmonella outbreak.

The Associated Press reports 16-ounce jars of Smucker’s Natural Peanut Butter Chunky with “Best if Used By” dates of August 3, 2012 and August 4, 2012 and those with production codes 1307004 and 1308004 are being recalled.

According to the AP, no illnesses have been reported, but salmonella bacteria poses a very serious health risk.

The product was sold in Michigan stores as well as six other states. If you have this item, please contact the store from which you purchased it or throw it away.
