FLINT -- A Flint teenager is hoping to stop the violence after being shot on a bus while riding to school.
Seventeen-year-old Dwayne “DJ” Williams was shot in the chest as he was sitting on the bus heading to school in October.
Other classmates riding that bus say they didn’t even know what happened when Williams fell to the floor. However, it soon became apparent that someone shot through the bus window and struck the International Academy of Flint student.
Now, after making a full recovery, Williams is working with his church to start “SWAGG.” It stands for Students Working Against Gangs and Gun violence. Williams hopes his story and this organization will help make a difference in the community and prevent further violence.
