Eighty-two year Congressman Dale Kildee says he’s angry and is vowing to clear his name after allegations came out recently that he molested a cousin 50 years ago.
Kildee reportedly says he dealt with the same issue during his 2010 reelection campaign.
He announced his retirement over the summer, and then announced last month that his wife Gayle is battling breast cancer.
Kildee denied NBC25's repeated requests for an interview.
Meanwhile, the accusations against Kildee have drawn the attention of other politicians and political analysts in Mid-Michigan.
Several lawmakers say they’re stunned by the turn of events, but are withholding judgment until more details become available.
"He's retiring already,” Mott Community College Political Analysts Paul Rozycki stated. “...In terms of the accusations, it really matters what the facts are, and they will come out at some point. But, one does tend to suspect political motives when it's timed like that."
