Burglars take Ohio family's Christmas gifts, toys

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — A family in northeast Ohio says burglars have stolen their Christmas.

Whoever broke into the home of John Velardo and his family in Painesville Friday afternoon took two televisions, an Xbox game system, a laptop — and at least $300 in freshly purchased Christmas gifts.

Velardo tells WJW-TV he's particularly disgusted that the thieves stole toys out of the toy box in his son's bedroom. He says that's heartless.

A neighbor says she saw two men putting a big-screen TV into a blue-green SUV or van on Friday but thought someone from the family was home and allowed the television to be taken.
