FLINT -- Odis Floyd, Bishop for New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church in Flint, was honored Monday night with a memorial service and will be laid to rest after a formal funeral service on Tuesday morning at 11am at his church on 1035 E. Carpenter Rd.  The services are opened to the public.

Floyd passed away last Tuesday at the age of 71.  Former state Rep.  Floyd Clack referred to him as a "great man" and a community leader and Flint Mayor Dayne Walling called him a "great man of God".

He began serving New Jerusalem in 1969 and was known for being influential in community outreach programs for young people as well as for his influence in the Genesee County political scene.  Floyd will be laid to rest at Grace Lawn Cemetery on North Saginaw St. in Flint.
