BAY CITY -- The trial for an assistant coach accused of sexually assaulting a toddler is expected to continue Tuesday.
Mark P. Townsend’s trail began Monday and is expected to continue in front of Judge Joseph Sheeran Tuesday.
On March 12, 2010, an 11-month-old baby was taken to the Bay Regional Medical Center for severe injuries. Employees believed the child had been sexually molested.
The sheriff’s department was notified, and after further investigation, linked Townsend to the crime.
The Bay City Times reports Townsend is a former assistant basketball coach at Bangor Township Schools. The report indicates he faces charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and child abuse.
