LANSING (AP) -- Michigan lawmakers have approved a bill that will allow more charter schools to open in the state.

The Associate Press reports the measure now goes to Gov. Rick Snyder’s desk for final approval.

According to the AP, Michigan currently has 255 charter schools, but has a cap that only allows 150 schools authorized by public universities.  Under this new legislation, that limit would be gradually lifted until 2015.
