The Michigan Automobile Theft Prevention Authority recently announced that auto thefts in Michigan were down 9.35 percent from 2009 to 2010.  They tout their success in the battle against auto theft as being a collaboration between law enforcement and community groups.  The most stolen vehicle?  The 2000 Dodge Ram pickup.  Here is the list.

The most common day for stealing vehicles was a Tuesday, and the month that saw the most thefts, November.  That was followed by December and October.

The ATPA was created in 1986 to help combat auto theft in Michigan.  It's leaders are government appointed but most of the staff are officers with the Michigan State Police.  Their sole purpose is to combat auto theft.
