Several Mid-Michigan residents tell NBC25 they are still without power after last night's winds
A powerful storm system moved through the Genesee and Great Lakes Bay regions Friday night and into Saturday morning. Wind gusts as high as 53 miles per hour in Flint, downed small branches and limbs and left thousands without power.
As of 9:30 p.m., Consumers Energy estimated 71,000 people were without power statewide from the storm, which brought rain and thunderstorms to southern parts of the state last night, and heavy snow to northern areas, in addition to high winds. Consumers estimates the following number of customers remain without service: 540 in Clare; 840 in Genesee; 300 in Shiawassee; 2,000 in Ogemaw and 3,000 in Oscoda. As of 3 p.m., NBC25 viewers in the Clio and Montrose areas are still telling us they are without power. Consumers says most customers south of U.S. 10 should get power back by midnight, with the exception of Genesee County, where full restoration is not expected until noon Sunday.
Some other notable peak wind gusts from across our area:
Owosso: 53 MPH at 2:15am, Caro: 52 MPH at 12:24, Saginaw: 48 MPH at 3:11am, Bad Axe: 47 MPH at 5:15am, Midland: 37 MPH at 4:34am
