GENESEE COUNTY -- Ted Velat is one of a lucky few. He put up his Grand Blanc home for sale and within hours it sold.
"Four hours. That's all it took." said Ted Velat. He says he had his doubts though before he actually decided to try and sell his house.
"We were concerned. It's pretty hard, once you get it on the market and then it's there forever."
Statewide home sales were up 14% for the month of February compared to the same time last year. However home prices continued to drop nearly 3%.
"We have not seen a positive increase in values for quite some time so until that number starts to turnaround and we see values climb, it's still a buyers market." said Remax realtor Andy Alger.
Ted may have sold his home quickly but he took a hit, a $50,000 hit.
"We were ready to move it was worth it."
It was a hit Fenton resident Mark Moore wasn't ready to take.
"We tried to sell our house but could not but we didn't want to give up on the market . We want ed to take advangage of it."
Mark just closed on a house in Grand Blanc and wil have to rent out his Fenton home until the market improves.
Ted and his wife are planning to move to Texas to be closer to his children and says he's glad to be moving without having to worry about having a house on the market.
"We feel blessed. Very much so."
