Author: Dave Boike, Retirement Resources Google executives are talking up security. Tamper proof chips, PINs and shutoff mechanisms lead Google execs to believe that Google Wallet is ultimately safer than handing a retailer your credit card. Whether or not this is true is yet to be seen. The final con I’d like to discuss is the hesitation of partners and consumers that could curtail the amplification of Google Wallet. Using Sprint and the Nexus S 4G as the launch carrier is a good bet, but the numbers are still too small. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile need to get in the game, and who knows what the folks at Apple are cooking up. Furthermore, new payment methods are adopted slowly in the U.S., and it’s hard to say whether U.S. consumers will change their habits.
