An intimate gathering of people came to John Glenn High School Friday evening to pay tribute to 19-year-old Christina Goyett.  The late Bowling Green State University student was known and loved by many of her teachers and peers in her hometown and alma mater.

Lynne Moore, the human resources director for Bangor Schools, put together a video presentation in Goyett’s memory.  Moore went to school and graduated with Goyett’s mother, Robyn Goyett.  She only met Christina once, several years ago, but felt compelled to do something for her old friend.

“I remember just how much joy and love and pride Robyn has when she introduced her to me,  her love for Christina was clearly evident,” Moore said.

Goyett played softball and was on the swimming team and graduated from John Glenn in 2010.  She was studying education and human development at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

News earlier this month that she was killed on I-75 on her way to a spring break trip with her friends sent shockwaves through the community.

"It was tough on them - it was really difficult on them, just seeing one of their peers pass away,” said Principal Tony Bacigalupo.

Snapshots of Goyett shown Friday reminded her family and friends of the memories she left behind, and the embraces exchanged afterward were proof of how one life can make a lasting impact.
