Genesee County's top law enforcement official with a badge says he's running for a fourth term.
Speaking to a crowd of General Motors retirees at UAW Region 1-C, Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell made his announcement.
Pickell says his creation of the Elder Abuse Task Force and Drug Task Force has made him the best choice for the position.
"I really look in the future that money's going to be a factor," Pickell tells NBC25 News. "We need somebody as the sheriff that's going to be able to work with limited resources without cutting services to our citizens in the county."
"It has been a tremendous honor to serve the residents of Genesee County as their Sheriff and I'm confident that our work together will continue to yield positive results for our communities and the services we are able to provide them," said Pickell.
Argentine Township Police Chief Dan Allen is also running for the position on the democratic side.
Allen filed his a year ago. The primary is in August.
