FLINT -- Three new charter schools in the Flint area will open next year with one of them planning to use the Powers Catholic High School building when Powers moves locations.

The new schools are a result of legislation passed late last year that lifts the cap on the number of charter schools that can open in Michigan.

According to the Michigan Association of Public School Academies the new schools are set to open in the fall for the 2012-13 school year and will be called 'The New Standard', 'Alternative Path Academy', and 'Greater Heights Academy'.
