FLUSHING -- A nationwide trend of theives targeting tide laundry detergent has washed its way into Genesee County.

Flushing Police Chief Mark Hoornstra said his officers were called sunday afternoon to a Kroger store for a report of two suspects attempting to steal a shopping cart full of tide liquid detergent.

An AP report says the popular suds are becoming a high priority target of thieves because it is easy to sell on the black market. Locally, a large bottle of the detergent sells for 20-dollars retail.

NBC25's Dan Armstrong will have more on this story later tonight on NBC25 news at 6 p.m.
