BEECHER -- The urban landscape of Beecher will be getting a environmental makeover.

Next to a burned-down house, vacant lots and dilapidated homes will soon stand rows of fruit trees.

The project in Beecher is one of 12 orchards across six other cities in the country that will be planted as part of "Fruitful Neighborhoods", a community tour that brings orchards to urban communities starting April 22 in St. Louis.

At 9 a.m. on May 20, the community will be invited to help plant trees on the Beecher orcahrd. Out of all the projects on the tour, the one is Beecher is the largest.
