City already approaching 2011 homicide total

SAGINAW -- Residents gathered at Saginaw High School Friday evening for an anti-violence demonstration hosted by Parishioners on Patrol.

The two-hour demonstration came just days after two men were killed during separate confrontations with police.

"To have two people killed by police in the line of duty is unreal and cannot happen and we hope to bring focus to that to stop it from happening in our community," said Pastor Larry Camel.

Saginaw already has had eight homicides in 2012, after recording 12 during all of 2011.

Pastor Camel says he is working on several "Fun Fests" in Saginaw during the summer to help keep children busy.

The first "Fun Fest" is planned for May 12th.
