FLINT -- Just two weeks after Flint firefighters agreed with the city on a new concessionary contract, their union president is vowing to get it struck down.

Trent Farnsworth, president of Flint Firefighters Local 352, told MLive that 69 firefighters voted in favor of the deal, that includes a 20 percent cut in overall compensation, while 21 voted against it.

This comes on the heels of Flint Emergency FInancial Manager Michael Brown signing tentative contracts with two police unions last week.

"I'm a firm believe that the strong mayor form of government is archaic," Farnsworth told MLive.

Brown is planning to have a plan in place this week for addressing union contracts as well as a 2013 budget.

The law enacted by Brown is known as Public Act 4.

For more than two years, three police unions and the fire union have been operating under expired contracts.
