Snyder declares state of emergency in Genesee County

Officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be in Genesee County on Monday to assess damange in areas hit hard by last week's flooding.

Governor Rick Snyder declared a state of emergency on Friday, one week after heavy rains washed out the region.

The rainfall put parts of I-75 underwater, stranding numerous drivers. There were also a number of homes flooded in Clayton and Flint townshipas as well as in Burton.

Some people even ended up with sewage in their basements.

FEMA officials will join state and local officials to assess the damage to homes and businesses.
