ARBELA TOWNSHIP -- Two people were rushed to Hurley Medical Center after a small plane crashed just east of William “Tiny” Zehnder Field Sunday evening.

Frankenmuth Assistant Fire Chief Phillip Kerns tells NBC25, the pilot reported losing power around 5:25 p.m., shortly after taking off from the private airport with three passengers on board.

The plane crashed in a wheat field near Reese and Swaffer roads.  Two passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.  The third passenger along with the pilot will seek their own treatment.

The Frankenmuth Police Department and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the crash.
