Saginaw will cut 21 public safety officials after a new budget was passed on Monday.
Sweeping cuts have been proposed to public safety in Saginaw.
A budget for next year was passed on Monday night with 21 positions set to be eliminated beginning on July 1.
Of the 21 jobs, 10 are police officers and seven are firefighters.
However there is some good news to come from the budget cuts in the form of departed or retired officers.
The city has already replaced those who have left or retired in the last year which will keep the current number of police officers in Saginaw County at 96. Also the seven eliminated fire positions will likely be funded by a federal grant.
