Lawmakers work to create Autism Research Fund
LANSING -- State lawmakers are considering a package of bills to help autism efforts in Michigan. House Bills 5526, 5527, 5528 and 5529. The four bills would create an "Autism Research Fund" and put a check-off box on state income tax forms so you can donate to the fund. The bills would also require health insurers to cover autism-related health treatments.
State Representatives Kathy Angerer of Monroe County and Representative Richard Ball of Shiawassee County are sponsors of the legislation.
Right now the bills are being hashed out in committee.
