SAGINAW TOWNSHIP -- Authorities are investigating a double shooting in Saginaw Township that occurred during the early morning hours on Wednesday.

It happened in the 2500 block of Luella Avenue where two people were shot in an upscale neighborhood.  They were both taken to the hospital.

"The bad guys know that we're short-staffed, they have scanners that are able to listen to our activity," said Saginaw police officer Doug Wortley.  "If they figure out that we're tied up, it could produce an opportunity for them to commit a crime."

A search warrant has been issued by police for the person they believe committed the shooting.

Police have yet to confirm any more details.

NBC25's Brittany Noble will be on the scene all morning with more on the story.
