FRANKENLUST TOWNSHIP -- The 77-year-old pilot of a small plane has made a safe landing in a bean field after she encountered a fuel problem.
Sources say the pilot was flying her Light SportCruiser plane from Gaylord to Pontiac on Saturday when she ran into trouble. Authorities also say they think one of the plane's tanks ran out of gas, and the pilot wasn't able to switch to a second tank in time.
The plan landed in Bay County's Frankenlust Township, near Bay City. They say the pilot has 17 years of flying experience and neither she nor the plane was hurt.
The pilot was the only one aboard. A flatbed truck has taken the plane to MBS International Airport.
