Flint promises to have an extra special fireworks event this year.

A spokesman for the Flint Downtown Development Authority says it will be "higher and brighter" than in years past. It's being produced by the same company that will operate the Bay City fireworks. The C.S. Mott Foundation will pay for the show, estimated to be about 30 thousand dollars worth of "oohs and ahhs".

A team of professionals will light the fireworks from a secure area inside what used to be called "Chevy in the Hole", which is just across the street from Kettering University. They will be lit on Wednesday night at dusk.

You'll be able to see the fireworks from throughout the Flint area, but the best viewing will be downtown and on the west side near Mott Park and Kettering University. Extra police patrols will be on duty to ensure safety for all families.
