UPDATE 1:26 p.m. A fire advisory has been issued for Flint. People cooking with charcoal should keep them in a metal container.
Hot coals should be allowed to completely cool down before disposal. Residetns planning to use fireworks should take precautions.
Always light fireworks from a solid flat surface such as a driveway and stay away from grass. Keep a bucket of water handy. Backyard fire pits and other burning areas are not permitted.

A burn ban is in effect in Clio, Vienna Township, Atlas Township and Thetford Township until further notice.
Clio firefighters say all campfires are banned as well.
Fires involving fireworks will be charged a fine of $500 if the Clio Fire Department is called to the scene.
All permits currnently open or issued are also rescinded until further notice.
Be weary of these burn bans when lighting off fireworks in those areas during the Fourth of July holiday.
