16-year-old drowns on Houghton Lake

HOUGHTON LAKE -- The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office confirms a 16-year-old Clinton County teenager drowned on Houghton Lake Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies and Marine Patrol from the sheriff’s department responded to the Long Point Drive area about 1 p.m.

Sheriff’s department divers recovered Stephen Schrauben of Fowler about an hour later.

Schrauben had been visiting his family's cabin.

Michigan State Police and Department of Natural Resources, among other agencies, assisted at the scene.
