From the looks of it, these businesses in Burton blacked out, but Batteries Plus has a little secret.

Batteries Plus' Matt Dombrowski says they have a generator working out back to power the computer for sales and a fan to keep cool.

For the second day, lights are out but customers are coming in.

Dombrowski adding he has surprised so many people cam out to shop.

Next door, employees at Macksood's Pool Supply are braving the heat to help people chill out.

Macksood's employee Larissa Fuester says a lot of people are without air conditioning, but they have pools and need supplies.

From the old fashioned way to modern technology, businesses are surviving.

Townsquare Media Group, home to CARS 108, is also powerless.  But it's determined not to let history repeat itself.

Brand Manager Dan Foley says they've been through this before, but they have a generator that automatically kicks in when the power goes out.

He says the station has to keep listeners informed so we completely operationally and ready to roll."

But if you're still hot under the collar, take a page out of the Gocha family's book and hose yourself down.

Stephen Gocha says the family has lots of water and family members have been able to stay cool.

Daughter Jessica added that playing in the water is fun, adding that it's nice and cool.

Relief is on the way, but until it arrives, many people are in the same boat and doing their best to get through the dog days of summer.
