FENTON -- A deadly train accident occurred on Monday evening near Silver Lake Road and U.S. 23.

Fenton Police told NBC25 the incident happened around 7 p.m. when a female pedestrian was struck and killed.

Emergency personnell retrieved her body around 8:30 p.m. under the U.S. 23 overpass.

Police told the Fenton Patch that the Canadian National (CN) Railway freight train 5749 struck the victim west of where the train stopped. Police were investigating the area on the tracks near Silver Lake Hills Apartments Monday night.

Fenton officials are still investigating and have indicated a press release will be sent out on Tuesday.
