DETROIT -- In two weeks, Gov. Rick Snyder will make a big announcement concerning Detroit students.

The state is working on a plan to help tear down blighted buildings in Detroit and make the paths to and from city schools safer for students.

The plan includes demolition of 230 abandoned houses, as well as sending state troopers, welfare and health workers to help increase safety.
