BAY CITY (AP) -- A Bay City man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in the 2010 strangulation death of his girlfriend, whose remains were found in a vacant lot.

Bay County Circuit Judge Harry Gill found Jeffrey Julian II guilty of first-degree murder following a one-day bench trial last month.

Gill sentenced the 23-year-old defendant on Monday in the killing of Lynn Spicer. County Prosecutor Kurt Asbury called Julian "a truly evil individual." Julian reported Spicer missing from Bay City in August 2010. Her remains were found later that year.

Julian's brother, Craig Julian, was convicted of first-degree murder in 2011.

He's serving a life sentence in state prison.
