FRANKENMUTH -- A national Tea Party group endorses Republican United States Senate challenger Clark Durant. Members of the Tea Party Express welcomed Durant to the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth Thursday night.

Supporters say Durant is their hope to get a conservative in Washington, D.C. who represents what the Tea Party stands for. Durant says the endorsement means a great deal to him.

“It is a wonderful thing to see ordinary people coming from all walks of life to want to be involved to save their country,” says Durant.

He faces former congressman Pete Hoekstra and Randy Hekman in next Tuesday's primary election.

The candidate will then face incumbent Debbie Stabenow in the November general election.
