BAY COUNTY -- Many areas of Mid-Michigan received between three and seven inches of rain over the last 24 hours translating into flooded lawns, roadways, and even some residents' basements.

Luisa Histed has lived in Bay County for two years. She says she's never experienced a storm like this one. “Last night I didn’t sleep very well. Very, very windy out.”

Other Bay County residents say flooding like this happens much too often, blaming their soggy front lawns on a faulty drainage system.

But some younger residents did not allow the downpour to rain on their parade. They took some time to enjoy the shallow puddles in their front yard.

“My children are having fun in my new pond,” said Histed.

Officials remind residents not to drive or wade through standing water.
