BURTON -- Kaylee Queen is like any other teenager.
"She loves all different bands and being a normal 18 year old," says her mom Dianna Queen.
In addition to music, she loves fashion, and photography.
"She just got a new camera lens. hasn't been able to use it yet l get her recovered so she can go back to doing what she loves," says Queen.
Just over a week ago, this fun-loving, and creative Burton-area 18-year-old noticed a dark pink rash on the bottom half of her body. Kaylee's mother took her to the hospital where at first doctors were unsure of her condition.
Then, last Wednesday, doctors told her she had necrotizing fasciitis, commonly known as flesh eating bacteria. Dianna says her daughter reacted in disbelief.
"I have what? Flesh eating? I imagine it's overwhelming to be told that and not even know what it is," she says.
Kaylee is now recovering in the hospital where she underwent surgery and numerous procedures. Dianna says her daughters spirits remain high.
"She posted a text while she was in the hospital, as soon as she can, she feels like she wants to run for miles. She wants to keep running and running because she's been cooped up for so long. so I said back I'll run with you," says Dianna.
Doctors do not know how Kaylee contracted the bacterial infection.
