LANSING (AP) -- Gov. Rick Snyder wants state government employees to offer up ideas to help improve efficiency, customer service and their workplaces.

Snyder's office on Wednesday announced details of the "Bureaucracy Busters" effort. It's based in part on the idea of the Discovery Channel's "MythBusters" TV program to look into what might work.

The Michigan effort aims to use crowdsourcing among employees to find potential places for improvement. State workers will be encouraged to offer ideas online and vote for their favorites. Snyder's office says ideas that have potential for improving state services will be implemented.

Snyder said in a statement that he expects the effort to bring "many creative, constructive ideas coming from our state government team."
