LANSING -- An infantry battalion from the Michigan National Guard has returned home after a year in Afghanistan.

Around 80 soldiers from the 125th Battalion arrived Sunday morning at Capital City Airport near Lansing.

Family members awaited the arrival of their heroes.

The unit was involved in security missions and assisted the Afghan police.

The battalion is based in Flint and has companies in Detroit, Alpena, Wyoming, Big Rapids and Bay City.
