SAGINAW -- A Saginaw anti-hunger group expects to distribute its 20 millionth pound of food this month.

Hidden Harvest says it's giving out 2.2 million pounds of food this year alone and expects to reach the 20 million pound level sometime in September.

The group supplies food items to 170 non-profit agencies throughout the area like soup kitchens, food pantires, shelters, youth and senior programs.

Hidden Harvest collects surplus food from restaurants, wholesalers, bakeries, grocery stores and other health safety-approved sources then delivers the food to the agencies.

Hidden Harvest has been serving the community for 18 years.
