The Michigan Senate passed legislation yesterday that requires every state public school classroom to have a US flag and that schools provide an opportunity for students to recite the Pledge of Allegiance every day.
The state Senate approved the measure on Thursday by votes of 36-2 and 32-6. The bills already had been approved in the House.
The bill now heads for Governor Rick Snyder's desk.
Many students already recite the pledge but there is no required opportunity to do so.
According to MLive, more than 40 states already have this law in place.
The Michigan bills were sponsored by Sen. Roger Kahn, R-Saginaw, and Rep. Kevin Cotter, R-Mount Pleasant.
