GRAND BLANC -- About 30 Grand Blanc High School students were booted from their homecoming dance on Saturday because they were reportedly dancing inappropriately.
The new policy stated that students may only dance face-to-face. GBHS even printed the dancing policy on the back of the homecoming dance tickets.
Severeal couples who refused to dance face-to-face were asked to leave according to Grand Blanc High School Principal Jennifer Hammond. Other students were so upset at the new policy they left the dance as well. \
"I noticed last year it was getting pretty bad. I told administrators it was time to do something," Hammond told MLive. "We had numerous complaints from parents, from students, from community members. That just reinforced what we were thinking."
In the letter sent to parents, Hammond wrote, "For the past few years, the manner in which our students have been dancing has become inappropriate and, at times, downright lewd and overtly sexual. It has gotten so bad that many staff members no longer want to chaperone the dances."
Hammond also is going to try and arrange dance lessons in the future so students can learn new styles of dance. She is also planning to meet with student government to brainstorm ideas to make the dances more fun but still appropriate.
We're asking Facebook fans this morning how do they feel about the face-to-face only dancing policy? Is this rule taking things too far? Should we try and regulate how our children are dancing?
Chime in now!
