BURTON -- The Burton community is mourning the loss of a 15-year-old girl.
According to the principal at Bentley High School, Ava Taylor was killed was killed Tuesday morning after being hit by a car.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Lapeer and Munson in Burton.
The teenager was a new student at Bentley High School, so students didn't know her well, but school officials say she was making friends fast.
"Because we're so small with 400 kids, I recognized right away that she was a new student," said Bentley Principal Rex Hart. "She's a beautiful, wonderful girl and it's a shame."
Funeral arrangements are pending.
