A community supporter is turning an abandoned property into an orchard for education.

It is a story that we first brought to you on NBC25 last year.

Jacky King is the owner of King's Karate in the Beecher district, and is the brains behind the Harvesting Earth Educational Orchard. He bought nearly 3 acres near the corner of Detroit and Princeton, in Mt. Morris township 4 years ago.

Now he has planted 200 fruit trees with hopes of using the area for young people to examine the soil and benefit from farming, at no cost to the community.
