FLINT -- Halloween is Wednesday but it's the night before that Flint city leaders are concerned about.

Flint officials have formed a task force to ensure that everyone is safe starting with angel's night and into Halloween.

The city is looking for volunteers to help staff mini-stations throughout the city.

Efforts in past years have decreased violence around Halloween.

"Trough a lot of good coordination last few years, strong support from area fire departments we've had relatively safe Halloween eve nights," said Flint Mayor Dayne Walling.

The city hopes to get 100 volunteers for Halloween eve.  Residents interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact the city.

In addition, more than 60 agencies in 15 counties are stepping up patrols this weekend to curb drinking and driving.

Last year officers reported more than 260 arrests the weekend before Halloween.

The partols begin tonight and run through Halloween.
