MT. MORRIS TOWNSHIP -- Police have released the name of the woman who was found beaten in Mount Morris Township yesterday.

Ashley Lucier, 25, remains in critical condition after neighbors discovered her severely injured body along Carpenter Road.

It happened around 9 a.m. between Elms and Webster Roads.

A nearby resident says she was flagged down by a man who discovered the woman.

"There was a gentleman on the side of the road looking pretty concerned, flagging his arms. He wanted to use the cell phone. He had found a woman on the side of the road," said Valeria Mantei.

Mantei says she called 911 and waited for police to arrive.

Police say Lucier has no exact address but she lived all over Genesee County.

Mount Morris Township police and the Michigan State Police crime lab were on the scene for much of the day Thursday. The portion of Carpenter Road between Webster and Elms was shut down for nearly seven hours.

Police say there were more than 50 vehicles in the area of the crime scene that were stopped by officers in hopes that someone saw something.

Township Police Chief Scott McKenna says, "this is somebody's daughter."

Police don't know how long Lucier was in the ditch.
