MIDLAND -- A candlelight vigil has been planned for 24-year-old Rebekah Gay.

According to Bullock Creek High School Superintendent Charlie Schwedler, Gay's former classmates asked if they could use the school for the vigil.

The vigil will be held at 8 p.m. near the flag pole at the high school.

Gay was a 2007 graduate of Bullock Creek.

Schwedler, who was the principal when Gay was in high school, said Gay "was a great kid and we are heartsick"

Gay's body was found Thursday in a ditch after she had been allegedly beaten with a mallet and strangled with a zip tie by her neighbor.
