FLINT -- Powers Catholic students will permanently have their mark in the new campus when it opens next fall.

Students will move into a newly-renovated hall on the Michigan School for the Deaf campus next year.

On Monday night, a flatbed truck drove one of the support beams of the new building to a fundraising event for Powers Catholic.

Students as well as donors signed their names on the beam as a way to commemorate the school.

"Whether you're an alumni, or you're someone else who feels that Flint and the surrounding suburbs are your community, this is the time to invest in the future and the area as an education destination," relocation committee member Lara Affrica said.

The beam will be installed in the school's cafeteria for everyone to see.
