SAGINAW COUNTY -- Saginaw County Animal Control has hired a new director.

Kevin Wilken started work November 14th, replacing Valerie McCullough.

McCullough resigned in August during an investigation into policy decisions and conditions at the Saginaw County Animal Care Center.

Wilken says he knows there are challenges ahead, but says he has some ideas of his own.

"I want to review the adoption policies, the adoption fees, look at policies and procedures throughout the shelter, review everything and maybe rewrite some things that need to be redone," Wilken said.

Wilken also said his career goal has been to take on a director position.
