MID-MICHIGAN -- The region didn't get an enslaught of snow like other parts of the midwest. But the snow we're gettings is causing a busy day for emergency crews. Genesee County 911 reporting strong winds combined with the snow is causing numerous trees to fall onto roadways.

In Fenton Township, a tree was reported down at Linden and South Thompson.

Tree limbs are also an issue for drivers in Gaines Township at Seymour and Reid Roads. In Vienna Township, there was also a tree on the roadway at Willard and Tuscola, but that scene has now cleared. A tree was also reported down in Frankenmuth on northbound River Road.

In Midland, M-20 was closed because of an accident.

Wires are also down because of the heavy, wet snow. This is causing some power outages.

At last report, Consumers Energy reported 18,600 customers have lost power, although most of them aren't in Mid Michigan. Further north, much larger problem with power outages and slippery roads.
