MOUNT PLEASANT (AP) -- Michigan State Police officials say a 40-year-old Blanchard man remains jailed after threatening to get an AK-47 assault rifle and shoot his family on Christmas Day.

Police say the mid-Michigan man, whose name was not released pending arraignment, also threatened to run his vehicle into the family's house on Tuesday.

He's expected to face charges of aggravated stalking, violation of a personal protection order, and violation of conditions of an earlier release on bond.

Mount Pleasant Post Commander Chris Stolicker said the incident began Friday, when the man's parents told police he'd assaulted his mother.

They said their son broke out a window, repeatedly made malicious phone calls and threatened to get an AK-47 assault rifle and shoot his mother.
