GENESEE COUNTY -- State Representative Woodrow Stanley made a big announcement Saturday.
The former Flint Mayor says he's running for State Senate.
Surrounded by friends and family he told reporters he hopes to land the "State Senate 27th district seat."
The seat has been vacated by Senator John Gleason.
Gleason was elected Genesee County Clerk in November.
Representative Stanley will also host a town hall meeting Monday on gun violence from 5-7 at Potter Elementary School in Flint.
