January is "stalking awareness month" so the Underground Railroad is encourging people to be extra vigilant throughout January.

The organization assists victims of domestic violence, assault and stalking.

Officials with the Saginaw organization say social networking sites make stalking easier.

According to statistics, one in six women has been stalked while one in 19 men has been.

The organization wants people to be aware if they are being stalked.

Officials say to keep a journal of any strange occurances and to take pictures. These documented items can then be shown to police.

If you feel immediately threatened, the organization says to contact police. Underground Railroad also has a 24/7 hotline. 1-888-399-8385
